Here are the answers to some common questions from our users. Feel free to contact us if you have other questions.

Q: What are the numbers that can be searched on Kelpom?

Kelpom provides information on all iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Mac (iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, Mac Pro...) based on their serial number. It is also possible to obtain this information using the IMEI of iPhones and 3G iPads. Currently, our database does not contain information about other Apple products such as accessories or Apple TV.

Kelpom also allows the identification of devices from other brands such as Samsung, Nokia, LG, Huawei, Sony, BlackBerry, HTC, etc., using the IMEI number.

Q: Can Kelpom access my personal data with the serial number or IMEI?

No, only information related to the device itself is accessible through the Apple serial number or IMEI. It is impossible for us to obtain personal data such as the owner's name or place of purchase. The only personal data we have access to is the information you provide when creating your account, namely your name and email address.

Q: Is this service free?

Creating a Kelpom account and registering devices are completely free.

Regarding serial number and IMEI checks, two free Basic Reports are offered per 24-hour period. Once this limit is reached, you must wait for the reset of your quota to perform new checks or purchase a Token Pack.

FLEX Tokens can be used to obtain Basic Reports. One Token is debited every 10 verifications. However, the quota is reset every 24 hours or when a Premium check is performed. Thus, you could theoretically check 11 (or even 13 numbers if you have a Kelpom account) every 24 hours without being debited a single token.

Other rules:

  • Any purchase of a Premium Classic or HD Report gives you a bonus of 10 free verifications valid for 24 hours.
  • Numbers registered in the user account are not counted in the free search quota.
  • Numbers are counted only once. Thus, the same number can be checked again if it has already been verified in the last 24 hours.

Q: Is my serial number recorded when I perform a search?

Yes, we record the searched serial numbers or IMEI for the sole purpose of establishing statistics and improving our service.

Q: Can I know if a device is blacklisted with the GSMA from the serial number?

Only IMEI numbers can be blacklisted with the GSMA. That said, if you purchase the Premium Report for the serial number of an iPhone or cellular iPad, Kelpom will find the corresponding IMEI number to check if it is blacklisted. Please note that only cellular devices have an IMEI and only they can be blacklisted. Therefore, WiFi iPads, Macs, or iPods cannot be blacklisted.

Q: Does Kelpom allow me to find out if a device has been stolen based on its serial number or IMEI?

It is possible for our users to create an account on Kelpom.fr and register the serial numbers and IMEI of their iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Mac. This allows them to report if a device has been stolen or lost. This information then appears on the device information sheet as soon as someone searches for the corresponding number. However, it should be noted that this system will be truly effective only when a significant number of devices have been registered.

Q: I lost or my device was stolen. Can Kelpom.fr help me find it?

Yes. If you have registered your iPhone, iPad, iPod, or Mac and reported it as stolen or lost from the Kelpom.fr interface, a "Contact the owner" button will appear on your device's sheet. If someone finds your device and searches for the serial number or IMEI on Kelpom.fr, they can contact you directly while keeping your email address confidential until you respond.

If you find an iPhone, iPad, iPod, or Mac, locate the serial number or IMEI of the device in question and perform a search on Kelpom.fr. If the device belongs to a user who has reported it as stolen/lost, you can contact them directly from the result page.

Q: What is the benefit of knowing if the Activation Lock of a device is activated or not?

The "Activation Lock" is a new feature introduced with iOS 7 that prevents the use of the device by others than the legitimate owner in case of loss or theft. It is compatible with iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches. The lock is engaged when the "Find My iPhone" feature is set up. From then on, the Apple ID and password will be required to disconnect the device from the iCloud account and unlock it.

If you buy a used Apple device, it is important to check that the previous owner has not forgotten to disable the activation lock, especially when making a remote purchase. If they cannot (or do not want to) unlock the device, it may indicate that they are not the legitimate owner. It should be noted that the status of the Activation Lock can be changed at any time by the owner of the device.

Q: I am the legitimate owner of a device, but when I tried to register its serial number, I received a message indicating that someone else had already registered this number. What should I do?

If someone has registered the serial number of one of your devices before you, contact us immediately by providing one or more proofs that you are the legitimate owner, and we will remove the device from the fraudster's account. The account of that person will also be suspended.

Q: I bought a Premium Report but I am not satisfied and would like a refund. Is it possible?

Yes. You have 14 days to request a refund. However, this request must be justified.

Q: Am I obliged to open an account on Kelpom.fr to get premium information?

No, a Kelpom user account is not necessary to obtain Premium information. Premium Reports and "Premium FLEX" packs do not require having a Kelpom account.
